As part of our follow-up to the progress the Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP grantee is making within Memphis, Shelby County, and beyond- we are highlighting the weekly Entrepreneur of the Week Award. Kierra Clark was chosen as entrepreneur of the week, and when asked why, Dr. Gerald Kiner, PhD declared “ Kierra is one of the most talented and gifted young ladies you will find in any city across America. Kierra is contagious. She never loses a customer. Her services are beyond excellent. She is profound and pound for pound one of the best around. I am honored to announce Kierra Clark as our 44th entrepreneur of the week.”

A: My name is Kierra Clark and I am the proud owner of Sole Heaven Reflexology & The Kraft Goddess. Sole Heaven Reflexology is a place to come for all your relaxation needs. We provide tranquility and promote natural healing for clients. Here at Sole Heaven Reflexology we understand that every client is unique and we treat them based off their needs. Q: How did you come up with that beautiful name?
A: Sole Heaven Reflexology came to me in the middle of the night and I woke up and wrote the name down. I always knew I wanted something with the foot and heaven to be a part of my business name and it just dropped in my spirit one night and woke me up about 3 o’clock in the morning. My logo for Sole Heaven Reflexology has 2 feet with the heels of the feet as angel wings with a halo above them. That was my vision.
I had really been telling myself, “you need to come up with a name for this craft business.” I finally committed to it and The Kraft Goddess just literally fell in my lap.
Q: What made you want to start your business?
A: Sole Heaven Reflexology has always been a passion for me. I have always had a passion to help people. Before starting a business I always knew I wanted a health spa. Then I really just wanted to know a trade. I was intrigued in becoming a Massage Therapist but that was not working in my favor. After calling the massage board to find out some more information about credentialing, the lady helping me told me that I could become a reflexologist and bypass a lot of the tedious credentials needed to become a massage therapist. After the call I started doing research on what exactly reflexology was all about and what it meant to be a reflexologist. I had a vision that when people came into my spa, people would not only feel better when they left but would also be healed when they left their appointment. When I looked up the definition of reflexology and it matched the vision I had for healing and helping people, I knew this was the plan for me.
In February 2018, my brother, on my father’s side of the family, committed suicide. This left an empty spot in my soul as I felt a piece of me died when he died. I didn’t want to go on let alone go to school to pursue the plans to further my career. During a Bible Study message, taught by Pastor Kiner, following the Sound Mind series, Pastor Kiner’s revelation provoked me to embark on my journey in Reflexology School. I wish I knew the name of the message but all I know is the words touched my heart that night. I told my mother “it’s like Pastor Kiner is always in our house because he is always talking directly to our situations.” I was able to attend my brother’s funeral that Friday but I had to miss his burial due to the first day of class in the reflexology program. Pastor Kiner wrote me a letter of recommendation and the rest is history.
2020 birthed my crafting business. I used to pray for creativity. I would always tell myself, “I can’t do hair. I can’t do makeup. I can’t do this and I can’t do that.” and so I began to pray for creativity and then all of sudden it just dropped in my spirit. I have always had a passion and desire for creating things and found it is a stress reliever for me. I love doing it and it’s a huge reliever of stress in return.
Q: What makes you stand out from the competition?
A: I truly feel like I am my own competition because although I know the market is saturated I too believe there is still room for me. I think just because the market is saturated with Nike, Adidas can still make it out here too. Just like with Nike and Adidas, I have learned every customer is not for me but I will have the right customers because I have a gift for it.
Sole Heaven Reflexology truly stands because God is leading me and gave me a gift to talk to the people and give them insight on their health. I am humble so I don’t think of myself as being in competition with anyone but my own self. I strive for the best and I strive to be the best. I would prefer to collaborate with others rather than to compete against others.
Q: How did you find out about Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP
A: I found out about the program through Pastor Kiner originally and then Natalee was staying on me.
Q: What would you say to other business owners about why they should become a part of the Daughters of Zion SBA Community Navigator Pilot Program?
A: I would say you can learn alot about business. The mentorship is great and awesome. The program is very resourceful.
Q: In closing, what’s something vital you want all the potential clients out there to know about you?
A: I have a passion for what I do and my #1 goal is to help people heal. I strive to show people they have the power to heal within themselves. It’s a mindset. I help people understand to change their mindset to think if you believe you can do it- you can do it.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Right now I would have to say I am a big chicken head. I love me some chicken. I also eat vegan cakes from a vegan restaurant in the Hickory Ridge Mall often that are pretty great.
Q: What is your favorite craft that you make?
A: Just at this moment right now, picture canvas has to be my favorite because of the testimonies from my customers. I made a picture canvas for a high school friend and though he was going to give it to the guy in the photo instead when I asked him he told me the guy had passed and the canvas was a gift for his mom mom mother. When he got the canvas he said “it was going to make him cry.” I like the picture canvas’ because they are sentimental.
