As part of our follow-up to the progress the Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP grantee is making within Memphis, Shelby County, and beyond- we are highlighting the weekly Entrepreneur of the Week Award. Monica Weston was chosen as an entrepreneur of the week, and when asked why, Dr. Gerald Kiner, Ph.D. declared, “ Monica is a powerhouse. She is an influencer. She is a woman of integrity. Monica’s a hands-on owner. She will make sure every client knows who she is and receives exceptional care. The number 48 means “prosperity”  and “ determined to prosper”.  Monica Weston is determined to prosper. She starting with nothing and now she is prospering.  She is one of a kind. This is why I am elated to announce Monica Weston as our 48th entrepreneur of the week.”

Q: Please state your name, the name of your company and the nature of your business?

A: My name is Monica Weston and I am the proud owner of Hannah’s House Adult Care. Assistance At Hannah’s House Adult Care, we offer professional, reliable in-home care that allows clients to be given special assistance. This includes but is not limited to companionship, comfort care, light housekeeping and chores, hygiene assistance, meal preparation, medicine prompting and reminders, emotional and social support, entertainment, errands, and transportation.

Q: How did you come up with that beautiful name?

A: God kind of just gave it to me. I worked for a few agencies first, and I began bargaining with God was this a hat he really wanted from me. When I finally stopped bargaining and said “yes” God just gave it to me. I have always love the story about Hannah in the Bible also and it just went from there.

Q: What made you want to start your business?

A: Honestly, God because I was already working in the field full time. I also was prophesied multiple times that I had a business brewing on the inside of me. I prayed and I asked God “if this is for me, make it easy.” I asked God to send me a sign if He was ready for me to quit my job. I started going to my full-time job and my relief would either come in late or sometimes not even come at all. Ok, mothers Day 2020, I almost died and during my test time everything just fell into place. I’ve been sustaining 3 years now as a business owner and have found more peace overall.

Q: What makes you stand out from the competition?

A: We have a very hands-on approach. Most of these larger companies you will never get to meet the owner and here at Hannah’s House Adult Care, I am the face of the business. I work with my caregivers, clients, and families.

Q: How did you find out about Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP?

A: I found out from listening to the radio.

Q: What would you say to other business owners about why they should become a part of the Daughters of Zion SBA Community Navigator Pilot Program?

A: I would have to say to join for the networking opportunity and to learn as much as you can to enhance yourself.

Q: What is the greatest testimony you have witnessed from your business?

A: I would have to say the most touching testimony is helping families navigate through the process of transition. I get to witness the end of life. The beginning of life is great, but the end of life is something amazing as well because there is Glory on the other side. Understanding that this wasn’t easy for me at first and to see me today, allows me to know God was equipping me and preparing me the entire time. We have a client that has transitioned to be ok with the Lord and her family is still paying us because they said they couldn’t have made it without us navigating them through to the end.

Q: What’s something vital you want all the potential clients out there to know about you?

A: With our 24-Hour Care services, clients can feel confident that their needs will be addressed in a timely manner – without sacrificing their normal daily routines. At Hannah’s House Adult Care, we care for our client’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being and provide personalized non-medical attention for a variety of situations.

Q: Let me ask you some fun facts about yourself. What is your favorite food? What is the most interesting thing people wouldn’t know about you? What is the name of the last dog you named? What is something you can’t stand to go without?

A: Chicken is my favorite food. I am very talkative when I get out of my shell. My Dog’s name is Bailey. The one thing I can not go without is sleep. It’s something I went without for so long and now that I found it I won’t lose it.
