Man charged with second degree murder after shooting outside FedEx; victim identified by police

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have said that a man was arrested in connection to the shooting outside the Federal Express hub.

Conner Lambert is facing a second degree murder charge.

The shooting reportedly happened at the FedEx on Democrat Road. Police say the victim was shot in the parking lot.

Police say the victim went to the hospital in critical condition, but did not survive. Police have identified the victim as Eric Briggs.

Lambert reportedly told police he had arrived at FedEx to pick up his girlfriend and saw her arguing with Briggs. According to police, Lambert claimed he saw Briggs get a backpack out of the trunk of his vehicle.

Lambert reportedly told police he shot Briggs after seeing Briggs reach into his backpack. Police say Briggs had been shot multiple times.

Lambert’s bond has been set at $500,000. He is expected to be in court Monday morning.
