Police officer pulls child from frozen apartment pond

By:

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro Police Officer’s body-camera captures the frantic rush to pull a boy out of a frozen pond at an apartment complex.

Officer Troy Ellison ran on the property of the apartments on Jan. 20 in the morning where two onlookers directed him to the boy, according to the Jonesboro Police Department.

Video shows Ellison hop a fence, then crawl on a fragile frozen pond – cracked in some spots – until he reached the child.

Firefighters were at the scene and assisted.

A rope was provided: The officers’ hand clutched the boy’s wrist and pulled him out of the water.

He was sent to the hospital to check on any possible cold-weather injuries.
