SBA CNPP Grantee Daughters of Zion Hosts Masterclass Seminar with D. Reed & Associates, PLLC : Empowering Small Business Owners for Financial Success
On May 20, 2023, Corey Travis of the Memphis Youth Arts Initiative joined Rosha Lewis of The Glass Star, Tinieka Thrailkill of Ruby Van Specialty Services, LLC, and 67 other small business entrepreneurs from around Memphis, Tennessee. Together they participated in a Masterclass seminar hosted by Daughters of Zion and featuring Deshmon Reed, CPA owner of D. Reed & Associates PLLC based in Fort Worth Texas.
Over 50 entrepreneurs attended in person and the remaining on Zoom as the seminar focused on empowering small business owners to take control of their financial books and to better understand the various business structures available to them. Throughout the seminar, participants actively engaged with Mr. Reed, asking questions and taking notes as he expertly explained complex subjects like tax law and filing requirements.
For Mr. Reed, the seminar was a resounding success. Speaking after the event, he said, “Today’s Master Class Seminar was great, engaging, and enlightening… the business owners were attentive, engaged and seemed eager to attain more information.”
As the seminar progressed, it became clear to participants that the insights they were gaining would be invaluable in unlocking new opportunities for their businesses. Pat Sipp, owner of Benchmark Realtors, felt particularly energized by what she learned. “Amazing workshop. It was just what I needed to structure my business so that I can get the best tax advantages. And I learned how my business can pay me and my family.”
Meanwhile, Corey Travis found that the seminar offered an abundance of valuable information. “It was a wonderful session with an abundance of valuable information,” he said. “It was great to be able to interact and learn from other business owners and to get expert advice from Deshmon Reed.”
Tinieka Thrailkill of Ruby Van Specialty Services, LLC echoed these sentiments, saying, “I appreciate his tips and especially breaking down the different business tax filings.”
