2nd grader dies after collapsing on playground, school official says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A local school has released a public statement after one of their students collapsed on school grounds and later was pronounced dead.

Libertas School of Memphis, a Montessori school located on Edenburg Drive, took to social media to share new details following the death of a second grader.

According to the statement penned by the executive director of the school, the second grader was on the playground when they suddenly collapsed; the letter states that several

The Memphis Police Department later received a call from the children’s hospital, notifying them of the child’s death.

The 8-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the hospital, and, per MPD, there were no signs of foul play.
