As part of our follow-up to the progress the Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP grantee is making within Memphis, Shelby County, and beyond- we are highlighting the weekly Entrepreneur of the Week Award. Dr Jerry M Bobo was chosen as entrepreneur of the week, and when asked why, Dr. Gerald Kiner, PhD declared, “ Dr. Jerry Bobo is the ultimate business man and visionary. If you look at the YouTube video below of the business he started for his son you will immediately see he is a different breed. There was an immediate connection between us. I  look forward to seeing Dr. Bobo’s dreams come to fruition. Dr. Boo is not just an asset to the CNPP but to Memphis and the greater metropolitan area as well.”

Dr Jerry M Bobo answered several questions for the Entrepreneur of the Week.

Q: Please tell us your full name and the name of your business.

A: Hello, my name is Dr Jerry M Bobo. The “M” stands for Maurice even though I say the “M” is for money. I am the proud owner of DNC Holdings Incorporated.

Q: What does DNC Holdings Incorporated consist of?

A: It is a consultant and management company and it has various companies underneath its umbrella. Some of those businesses include logistics companies, chiropractic, cleaning, spas, as well as personal and business coaching.

Q: What is your vision for your business?

A: My vision is to expand it and make entrepreneurship simple for the average person.

Q: How did you get that vision?

A: Because entrepreneurship was so hard for me, turning over rocks, getting scraped up knees, bloody heads and taking 40 years to do what I saw other people doing in 40 days, so I said “hey once I figure this out and streamline it- it becomes my responsibility to give back to other folks.”

Q: How did you get your vision to create Hype House Production Studio?

A: My son is a rapper and entertainer and he would come back and tell me different things that maybe he had seen in places like California, Atlanta, or other different places. I had to tell him “son you are spending a lot of money in these particular locations.” So I told him “let’s build you one.” The initial thought process was just to be a studio for recording but then I thought, “well don’t yall do music videos and stuff like that” and when he said “yeah” I had the vision to put it all under one roof not just for my son but also for other people so that it would fund my sons career and he has a place to record for himself.

Q: If someone reads your Entrepreneur of the Week story and they would like to become one of your clients, what would they have to do to become your client?

A: They can text me. I am not to the point where I am doing Google Assistant and stuff like that, they can reach out to me directly at 901-335-1733. We take about 45-60 minutes and just discover to see if we are a good match for each other so that I can get an understanding of where they are versus where they want to be and see if my services are applicable to their situation.

Q: How did you hear about the Daughters of Zion SBA Community Navigator Pilot Program?

A: One of your amazing clients have been singing your praises and then I also have a preacher friend that when I mentioned your name said “absolutely, you most definitely have to go and see him.” I don’t meet to meet so if they tell me where to be I am going to be there. I do have to say that I am 10,000 percent impressed with what I experienced today and I will most definitely be waving this flag and ringing this bell throughout the city.

Q: What would you tell other entrepreneurs about becoming a part of the Daughters of Zion Community Navigator Pilot Program?

A: This would be the equivalent of you trying to make a copy using carbon paper versus you using the laser printer. This is the laser printer. Get rid of the carbon paper. They can come here and get almost an hour, which would probably take them months or years trying to do it on their own.

Q: Any thing else you want to let the world know about you?

A: You don’t have to be doing bad to want to do good. You can be doing good and just want to be better. That’s what I am here to do, help you go from good to better.
