
MLGW: Thousands of people dealing with power outages

UPDATE: At 10:13 p.m., MLGW provided an update regarding their efforts to restore Memphians’ power.
They said that the first 6,000 people’s power was restored within 45 minutes and the next 6,000 people’s power returned after an hour and 15 minutes.
MLGW told WREG that they are working on the remaining 8,000 customers and “will continue working until power is restored to every customer.”

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — According to the Memphis, Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) website, over 18,000 people are without power.
As of 8:45 p.m., MLGW reported that there were 254 outages around the city, leading to 18,295 people affected.

WREG has reached out to MLGW and was provided the following response:
We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers who are experiencing this latest power outage in Berclair, Orange Mound, Midtown, and the University areas. MLGW operators are working to determine what happened so that our crews can restore power. We will provide an update when we have more information.”
