Police chase ends in crash after driver tries to run over officer, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A driver crashed after leading police on a chase and trying to run over an officer, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
MPD said officers tried to pull over a black Toyota around 11:40 a.m. The driver tried to hit an officer in the area, laying out stop sticks and leading police on a chase, according to MPD. The officer was able to safely jump out of the way of the speeding car.
That chase ended at Bayless and Wrenwood when the Toyota crashed. Officers detained two people from that car. MPD said a woman and a child in the car were taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
FOX13 crews at the scene witnessed that black Toyota flipped on its roof.
No officers were injured during the chase.
