MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Safe Task Force announce the arrest of a woman wanted for attempted first-degree murder after they say she hit another woman with her car twice.

According to the arrest affidavit, on New Year’s Eve 2024, police responded to Berrypick Lane for an aggravated assault where a man on scene says, 24-year-old Anquanette Burnside allegedly struck his child’s mother with a car twice.

The witness says the assault stemmed from an argument between his child’s mother and Burnside. During the argument, Burnside allegedly took the woman’s identification, social security card, and credit cards from her purse, put them in the bathroom sink, and set them on fire. Burnside then left the residence, and the woman followed her.

A neighbor reported hearing “burning rubber” and saw a metallic black Nissan Altima with black rims and tinted windows intentionally jump the curb and run over the victim. The vehicle then turned around, jumped the curb again, and ran over the victim a second time.

The victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition.
