Security a priority as high school football jamborees kick off this week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – By Thursday evening, Arthur Halle Stadium in Memphis will be buzzing with Friday Night Lights energy.
Overton, East and Germantown high schools all will take the field Thursday at the stadium as part of one of six football jamboree locations Thursday, and there will be five more Friday.
But there are some things you should know before you go.
Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) want to make sure everyone can enjoy the action safely. The clear bag policy will be in effect, and every fan will go through metal detectors and wand screenings.
Even small clutches will be checked.
MSCS told FOX13 that security has been strengthened with nearly $40 million in upgrades, including new cameras, fencing, technology and more officers in the stadium and the parking lots.
These rules follow past jamboree nights that saw fights and even gunfire, and district leaders said that they will stay in place to protect everyone.
