MEMPHIS, Tenn — The Memphis Police Department (MPD) is reporting that a shooting took place on Beale Street the night of 901 Day.

Officers responded to an aggravated assault in the 100 block of Beale Street around 10 p.m. Monday.

A woman reportedly approached officers and told them her son had been shot. Police then found the victim on Main Street just north of Beale.

Officers were advised that the victim witnessed a fight taking place near the intersection of Beale Street and November 6th Street. The victim reported hearing gunshots as he was leaving the area, but did not see the shooter.

The victim, who is 17 years old, was shot once in the abdomen — the bullet exited his back — and twice in the right arm, according to MPD.

He was taken to Regional One in critical condition. The teen has since been downgraded to stable condition.

Police say two rounds went into B.B. King’s Blues Club, damaging the ceiling and wall.

MPD obtained video footage showing two men at the scene who were armed with weapons.

The first suspect has been identified as a black man with short dreadlocks wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, and white tennis shoes. He was caught on camera reaching into a black backpack, pulling out a handgun, and then firing the weapon.

According to police, video footage shows a second suspect passing an unknown item from a blue backpack to another man next to him. During this exchange, he was seen handling a firearm resembling an AR pistol.

The second suspect has been described as a Black man wearing a white t-shirt featuring a large graphic design on the back, light blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.
