Trump administration plans another shakeup at ICE after not hitting arrest goal

(Gray News) – The Trump administration is planning another shakeup involving leadership at Immigrations and Customs Enforcement field offices.
The Trump administration is reportedly frustrated that ICE agents are not arresting more people.
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump set a goal for ICE to arrest 3,000 unauthorized immigrants every day.
The agency has fallen short of that goal despite ramping up arrests in the recent months.
To help with immigration arrests, the Department of Homeland Security had US Border Patrol agents assist in the efforts. The agents have been at the center of some of the Trump administration’s “most controversial and aggressive” immigration enforcement actions, according to CNN.
According to reports, the Trump administration is considering replacing leadership at roughly a dozen of the 25 ICE field offices with Border Patrol officials.
“While we have no personnel changes to announce at this time, the Trump Administration remains laser focused on delivering results and removing violent criminal illegal aliens from this country,” DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
Both ICE and Customs and Border Protections fall under the DHS and involved in immigration enforcement, but have different jobs and functions.
