NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Tennessee could soon get its first-ever female governor.
The Associated Press projects that Sen. Marsha Blackburn has won the Republican nomination and that Jerri Green has won the Democratic nomination in Tennessee’s primary election on Thursday.
Their wins mark the first time that Tennessee will see two females face off as the dominant party’s nominees in the gubernatorial race.
Come November, they will also face off against a long list of Independent candidates for the position.
