Visiting officer discovers more than 6,000 fentanyl pills hidden in Cordova hotel room
The probation officer said he was staying in the hotel room while in town for training.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Drug Task Force recovered thousands of pressed fentanyl pills from a Cordova hotel room after a visiting officer allegedly discovered them hidden in a piece of furniture.
A State of Tennessee Probation and Parole Officer found 6,104 “pressed fentanyl pills that had been vacuum sealed, wrapped in electrical tape and hidden inside of a piece of furniture” inside a hotel the officer booked while he was in town for training, according to a statement issued to the West Tennessee Task Force’s social media.
Agents from the multi-agency task force were called after the visiting officer discovered the suspicious package in his Wolfchase-area hotel room.
“The Officer stated that he discovered the package after moving the chair and seeing a key had fallen out,” the task force’s statement said. “Upon further inspection of the chair, the package was discovered.”
An investigation is ongoing, and agents plan to conduct forensic analysis on the package. No one has been charged at the time of writing.
