Cooling Center opens as extreme heat continues in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The City of Memphis Cooling Center is open Wednesday afternoon as the Mid-South continues to deal with extreme heat.
The City of Memphis has announced that the Cooling Center at 590 Washington Avenue will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 16.
The Cooling Center is not an overnight shelter. The City states that it is intended to provide temporary relief from heat for people experiencing homelessness.
IDs are not required, but the City states that guests will need to check in when they arrive. The City will provide sack meals while supplies last.
