MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Sam’s Town Tunica is set to close on Saturday, Nov. 29, according to a statement on its website.

A statement from the hotel and gambling hall’s parent company, sent to ABC24, notes that team members were informed of the closure on Thursday.

“This was not an easy decision for our company. However, demand throughout the northwest Mississippi market has declined significantly over the past 20 years, with several of Tunica’s original casinos closing since 2014,” writes the statement. “Our decision to close Sam’s Town is a result of these market conditions, and follows our best efforts to adjust the business to address lower demand.”

A statement on the casino’s website also confirms the closure, along with a message thanking its patrons.

ABC24 has reached out to Tunica Mayor Andrew T. Dulaney’s office for comment. It is not known how many Sam’s Town employees will be affected by the closing.
