MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A crowd gathered in Downtown Memphis to march down Main Street in protest of the Trump Administration on President’s Day.
Around 150 people were seen marching down Main carrying various signs reading “Deport Musk To Mars” and “No Kings In America.” The picket signs depicted the crowd’s dissent toward President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the current administration in the White House.
“Mr. Trump and all his allies are not taking into effect the least of us. And that’s very Biblical,” said Jim Kovarik. “I’m not a religious person, but I understand that the boats rise when everyone rises. When the rich people rise.”
Multiple organizations including the Memphis chapter of Black Lives Matter and OUTMemphis, an advocate group for the local LGBTQ community, were in attendance.
“I really see this as a train going on the tracks, where the rich are gonna get richer and the poor will get stomped on — more trouble. It will cost them money, time, effort, their jobs, their families, their livelihoods,” said Kovarik. “It’s a horrendous situation to be in in the middle of America.”
Kovarik says he is hoping that Tennessee representatives “stand up,” and “start to take a position.”
Anti-Trump protests were scheduled for Presidents Day in cities across the U.S.
