First-ever RiverBeat Music Festival kicks off at Tom Lee Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The first-ever RiverBeat Music Festival kicks off with a bang!
Tens of thousands of Memphians are expected to make their way down to Tom Lee Park this weekend.
Organizers tell Action News 5 between 10,000 to 15,000 people walked through the gates Friday.
The party continues Saturday and Sunday.
“The vibe and the crowds are amazing so we’re just happy to be here,” said Breunna Lovett.
Memphians once again making their way down to Tom Lee Park for live music by the river.
“You can’t forget about the local food,” said Emon Lahiri. “Gus’ over here. Memphis chain all the Memphis chain local restaurants doing food stands over here.”
But it’s not just the music drawing people in; it’s the food and fashion too.
“We’ve just been so excited to come out here and just see everybody and everybody’s outfits and all the people performing,” said Brianna Skulina. “We’ve been very excited.”
Some things you’ll be sure to notice, the Ferris wheel, VIP areas to sit back and soak in all that good music, the pallets on the ground in front of stages and less mud too.
“Mud fest is not mud fest this year since they renovated,” said Katie. “Your our shoes will be safe!”
Music lovers taking full advantage of the space throughout the park.
You also can’t miss this the security and law enforcement presence in the sky, on the ground, and on horseback.
“We have about 165ish security guards on sight that are helping us with permitter security, getting into the festival and then security here on sight,” said scott King, Director of Public Safety and Security for Mempho Presents.
More than 40 artists will hit this stage this weekend, many with a Memphis connection.
As the sun sets on the Mississippi, the party is just beginning and continues for the rest of the weekend.
Gates at Tom Lee Park back open Saturday at 2:00 PM.
