Memphis high school wins international jazz competition in New York City
The best of the best is from the Bluff City. The Central High School Jazz Band recently achieved the sweet sound of victory at a major international competition in New York City.
Central High’s Jazz Band won the 2025 “Essentially Ellington” High School Competition and Festival, which took place between May 7-11, 2025. This year was the 30th anniversary of the event, named after jazz pioneer Duke Ellington.
