MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Memphis police officer is off the force after being arrested while off duty.
Joshua Bowles has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an investigation following his arrest for DUI.
Police were called to a parking garage at 21 Second Street just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday where they found a man asleep in a vehicle.
Officers found the car stopped within the drive lane with the door ajar.
Officers were able to wake the driver up and ask for his license, and the driver responded by handing over a credit card.
The driver told police he had just got off work and was tired, but officers noticed that he appeared drunk.
Officers later identified the driver as Bowles, who was taken into custody.
Bowles is charged with DUI, public intoxication and failure to exercise due care.
He was released on his own recognizance.
