Crash report: 24-year-old driver killed in Hickory Hill crash was speeding, driving aggressively before wreck

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A newly-obtained crash report says that reckless driving and speeding caused Sunday morning’s deadly crash in Hickory Hill.
The Memphis Police Department says an Infiniti SUV was speeding southbound on Hickory Hill Road when it plowed into a Lexus SUV that was making a left-hand turn onto Sunny Morning Drive.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, including the drivers of both vehicles: 24-year-old Antione Hampton and 50-year-old Lachell Boyd.
Five others were injured, including two teenagers and a 10-year-old.
The crash report reads that 24-year-old Hampton, the Infiniti’s driver, was driving aggressively, erratically, and recklessly before the deadly crash.
Hampton’s mother told Action News 5 that his two little brothers, his best friend, and another person were inside the Infiniti when it crashed.
She did not want to go on camera but said that her 24-year-old was an amazing son and urged all to “love on your children.”
A candlelight vigil and memorial will be held for Boyd, the other driver killed, on Saturday. Friends and family will gather in front of her house, which is just yards away from where she lost her life.
