As part of our follow-up to the progress the Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP grantee is making within Memphis, Shelby County, and beyond- we are highlighting the weekly Entrepreneur of the Week Award. Michelle Golden was chosen as an entrepreneur of the week, and when asked why, Dr. Gerald Kiner, Ph.D. declared, “Michelle Golden is a phenomenal woman. She is so humble and hard-working. She is everything you would expect from a person eager to learn whatever it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur.  Michelle is posed for exponential growth. She has what it takes to be a high-income entrepreneur. I am so glad that after being on the sidelines most of 2022 she has decided 2023 would be the year she would take advantage of everything the CNPP has to offer. I plan to be right by her side cheering for her every step of the way. This is why I am so elated to announce Michelle Golden as the 47th Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP entrepreneur of the week.”

Q: Please state your name, the name of your company and the nature of your business.

A: My name is Michelle Golden and I am the proud owner of Bush Mania Productions. Bush Mania Productions is the parent company for several different smaller businesses which include custom apparel, concert promotion, studio rehearsal space and music artist management. We also offer credit restoration services.

Q: How did you come up with that beautiful name?

A: The name was part of an annual concert that I was helping with, at the time, and my business partner and I  just incorporated the name with the annual Gospel concert.

Q: What made you want to start your business?

A: Honestly, it was because for most of my life I always worked for other people and never did anything to boost something that was my own. Even though I have a partner, I wanted to be able to do something on my own with the few little skills God gave me.

Q: What makes you stand out from the competition?

A: I believe the thing that truly separates us is the general nature of the services that we provide. Bush Mania Productions offers a vast array of services that are provided from management of artists to production of concerts. We are having a concert in September, featuring Pastor Shirley Caesar and Leandria Johnson so it’s like a true one-stop shop. All artistry needs are covered with our organization and you can pick up some custom apparel, as well as, get your credit restored. My business partner, Tony Bush, already had a lot of business mindset and I wanted to be able to do something that was outside of just the administrative work that I was doing behind the scenes so I asked God to help me to bring some things to the business that focused on just me. I’ve lost so much in these past couple of years and I feel like and just wanted God to bring out the gifts in me so I could pour back into people.

Q: How did you find out about Daughters of Zion SBA CNPP?

A: I found out from Facebook. I already followed the church Facebook page and I saw a meeting one day on Facebook Live.

Q: What would you say to other business owners about why they should become a part of the Daughters of Zion SBA Community Navigator Pilot Program?

A: I would have to say this is an amazing program whether you are a startup or have been in business for a while. This program is for all of us. Natalee has been super sweet and encouraging. She has talked to me about grants, about business, banking accounts, and getting my ein number. If you are new or not just haven’t been structured properly this is a good way to help. Dr. Kiner is so knowledgeable. I mean he is diligently pouring knowledge into others from his past, present, and even what he plans for the future experience. What better way to learn than from people who have paved the way and are not afraid to share the nuggets.

Q: What is the greatest testimony you have witnessed from your business?

A: An artist we managed was singing God’s graces but being overworked and undervalued is now opening for Pastor Shirley Caesar and it just shows how amazing God is if you continue to sing Him praises, He will reward you.

Q:  What’s something vital you want all the potential clients out there to know about you?

A: Whether a client needs their credit restored, an artist that wants to make it big or just simply a client who needs custom apparel, they will get 100 percent effort from me. I will be there every step of the way making sure they are pleased with the process.

Q: Let me ask you some fun facts about yourself. What is your favorite food? What is the most interesting thing people wouldn’t know about you? What is the name of the last dog you named? What is something you can’t stand to go without?

A: Fruit is my favorite but chicken is something I can eat everyday. There is not a day I can say I can not eat chicken. People wouldn’t know, because my dad was in the military, I went to 12 different schools in 12 years. I named my last dog Cinnamon. I love my AirPods and my Apple Watch. These are two things I rarely leave the house without.
