
Girl shot near North Memphis charter school, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – An underage girl was hurt in a shooting Monday afternoon in the area of KIPP Memphis Academy High School in North Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.
KIPP Memphis tells Action News 5 that the shooting happened after school hours and that no students were involved or injured.
“We will continue to prioritize campus safety and will fully cooperate with the authorities should they need any support in their ongoing investigation,” said a school spokesperson.
MPD says that officers responded to the 2100 block of Brown Avenue after a call came in at 3:48 p.m. reporting that someone had been shot.
A young girl, whose exact age was not disclosed, was found at the scene with non-critical gunshot injuries. She was sent to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for treatment.
MPD says no one has been detained.
