Memphis Grizzlies tip off new season vs. New Orleans on Wednesday night

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Grizzlies kick off their 23rd season in franchise history Wednesday night as Memphis hosts the New Orleans Pelicans at FedExForum.

Tipoff is 7 p.m.

Fans need to keep in mind the Forum’s new clear bag policy (vinyl or PVC and not larger than 6-by-8-by-2 inches), which resembles the policy at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Since drafting guard Ja Morant in 2019, who went on to win the Rookie of the Year Award, the Grizzlies have been one of the youngest, most intriguing squads in the league.

Intriguing on and off the court.

Earlier this week, the Grizzlies said that starting center Steven Adams will miss this season due to knee surgery.

This key loss is compounded with Morant’s 25-game suspension from the league for actions outside of basketball.

Yet, the team traded for all-defensive player and guard Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics and signed former MVP and University of Memphis guard Derrick Rose.

The Grizzlies finished the prior season with the second-best record in the Western Division, which is loaded with dominant, talented teams once again.

Where the Grizzlies finish this year is hard to judge with their assortment and assembling of its roster.

But the intrigue continues.
