
Memphis museum ranked in top 10 U.S. music museums

MEMPHIS, Tenn — USA Today announced the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum as one of the 10 best music museums in the United States on Wednesday.
The vote was conducted by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the U.S.
The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum is located at 191 Beale Street on the corner of Highway 61 and inside of the FedExForum sports and entertainment complex.
According to the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum’s website, their exhibition is about the birth of rock and soul music it is based on one created by the Smithsonian Institution in 2000.
Their website says the museum tells the story of musical pioneers’ love for music, and how they overcame racial and socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the entire world.
USA Today says the city’s premier sports and entertainment complex in downtown Memphis, joined other top 10 winners, including the Johnny Cash Museum and Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
The museum says it will take you from the rural field hollers and sharecroppers of the 1930s, through the explosion of Sun, Stax, and Hi Records, inside Memphis’ musical heyday in the 70s, to its global musical influence.
Rock ‘n’ Soul was the only Memphis museum to be named to the prestigious list this year.
