MEMPHIS, Tenn. — GloRilla, a female rapper from Memphis, went to the White House this week to meet President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris and afterward talked about her experience in an interview with CNN.
On Monday, GloRilla, 24, attended the Women’s History Month reception in Washington D.C.
She posted a picture of her with POTUS on her Instagram with the caption, “YEAH JOE,” which is a play on words for her latest single “Yeah Glo!,” which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 List.
Days later, on Thursday, she did a virtual interview with CNN’s Laura Coates to discuss her experience meeting the Chief of State.
When asked what it was like being in the presence of the elected officials, Glo responded, “It was so cool. I was geeked. I never in a million years thought I would be in the White House. They can’t mess with me.”
Coates then asked what Biden and Harris wanted from GloRilla politically, to which she answered, “That ain’t got nothing to do with me. You know what I’m saying? I’m just living my life like it’s golden.”
“I’m not going to talk politics,” the rapper added. “I love the President. I love everybody. At the end of the day, the day gotta end.”
GloRilla also talked about growing up in a house in the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis.
