MPD investigating baby shower shootout

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested after Memphis Police say that he fired back at shooters whose bullets struck a baby shower on Saturday.

At 5:15 P.M., officers responded to an aggravated assault call in the 5000 block of Raleigh LaGrange where multiple shots were reportedly fired.

One of the bullets struck a glass window of one of the suites, which was occupied by people at a baby shower.

According to the police report, investigators obtained video surveillance from one of the residents that showed a shootout.

WREG obtained the following surveillance video from the scene:

The video showed the suspect, Anthony Jackson, with a handgun returning fire at the suspects.

The handgun was not found at the scene.

Jackson was detained and taken to 170 N. Main where he invoked his Miranda Rights.

Investigators learned that Jackson was a convicted felon after pleading guilty to possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to deliver/sell in 2020.

He’s been charged with convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
