MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The phone lines and network are working again at the main jail at 201 Poplar, a Shelby County spokesperson said Tuesday morning.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported the outage around 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9.

“Rest assured, our service provider is diligently working to restore communication as swiftly as possible,” officials said.

In the meantime, officials requested that anyone attempting to contact someone at the jail utilize the following number (non-emergency dispatch): 901-379-7625.

Officials said the fugitive bureau was also affected, but the outage did not affect the operation and processing of inmates at the jail. The interruption of the network pertained only to the main jail, not Jail East for Women or the Youth Justice and Education Center.
