Police officer cited after East Memphis crash: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police officer was issued a citation after a three-car wreck with injuries in East Memphis this weekend.
Police say the crash happened at 6 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and South Prescott Street.
The officer was responding to a call and had lights on, but no siren activated, when the officer disregarded a red light and struck a car turning onto Poplar. That car hit a second car.
The officer was taken to Regional One with non-critical injuries. A driver and passenger in the second car were taken to a hospital with minor injuries while a passenger in the third vehicle had possible injuries.
The officer was issued a citation for disregarding a red light.
