Shots fired as gunman robs man in parking lot of Southaven Walmart, police say

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — What started as a robbery outside a Southaven Walmart ended with gunshots ringing through the parking lot, police said.
Southaven police said it happened just after 7 p.m. Thursday at in the parking lot of the Walmart on Southcrest Parkway. Someone robbed a man, then opened fire before taking off, police said.
No one was struck by the gunfire, SPD said.
Police said Thursday night that the gunman was still on the run, adding that the investigation was not complete.
This was the same Walmart where an employee killed two managers and shot a police officer in 2019. The shooter, Martez Abram, is no on death row in Mississippi.
