The World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest is the largest pork BBQ competition on the planet and features the following championship categories:

  • Whole Hog
  • Rib
  • Shoulder
  • Patio Porkers (entry-level)

Teams will vie for the “Top Gun” barbeque crown with a cash prize of more than $170,000.

More than 250 official Memphis in May and certified judges will roll up their sleeves, “fingers only,” to determine the best in the pit.

“Join us for this year’s festival, as more than just a barbecue cooking contest will be on the menu,” said Memphis in May President and CEO Mack Weaver. “Memphis in May will offer food, fun, fellowship, and a unique and diverse set of experiences during the city’s biggest backyard barbecue! We are more than just a barbecue cooking competition, and everyone is welcome to the party!”

Organizers expect this year’s event to be “spectacular,” as more than 125 of the most championship-winning teams will return.
