Weekend road closures downtown as crane sets up for construction

By:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A few key streets in Downtown Memphis will be closed this weekend as construction crews set up a crane.

Beginning today (March 16) at 7 a.m., N. Second Street between Court Avenue and Adams Avenue, and Jefferson Avenue between N. Front Street and B. B. King Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic, the city of Memphis said.

According to the city, the closure allows contractor to setup a crane for construction work to begin on the 100 North Main Street project.

The roads will reopen on Sunday (March 17) at 7 p.m.

Those who usually use N. Second Street and Jefferson Avenue are asked to find alternate routes.

There are detour routes signs set up at Adams Avenue, N. Front Street, Madison Avenue and B.B. King Boulevard.

The traffic control is the responsibility of Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co.
