The victims said they were sitting in a 2019 gray Charger in their driveway in the 3600 block of Wordsworth Avenue when two men in black ski masks and black clothing jumped out of a white sedan and pointed AR-15-style weapons at them.

The couple said they had just arrived at their home and were sitting in the car with three small children when they were robbed and forced out of their vehicle.

They said the carjackers took a wallet containing about $600 and left in the gray Charger with the white sedan following behind.

One of the victims provided officers with tracking information, and they located the Charger about 11 miles away in the 2900 block of Ruby Cove. Police said after a brief chase, the vehicle stopped at the end of Semmes Street, and three people bailed out of the car and ran.

Police said Hampton was carrying an American Tactical AR pistol when he was taken into custody. They said he also had a backup containing a handgun, ammo, screwdrivers, a glass breaker, three key fobs, and a car programming device.

Hampton is being held on a $350,000 bond and will appear in court on Wednesday.
