David Jones earns second consecutive AAC weekly honor roll

Irving, Tx. – University of Memphis men’s basketball senior forward David Jones has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the fifth time this season, the league office announced Monday.

It marks the second-consecutive week Jones has landed on the list after averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, four assists and one block per game in leading the Tigers to wins over Temple (84-77) and Tulane (90-78).

He made 15-of-24 field goal attempts to shoot 62.5 percent from the floor, while drilling 8-of-11 from three-point range (.727).

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic product posted two double-doubles to give him a team-high six on the year.

He opened with 23 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and four dimes in Thursday’s victory over the Owls, where he shot 7-of-12 overall (.583) and went 4-of-6 from deep (.667). He then followed with another 23 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals Sunday against the Green Wave. Jones was an efficient 8-of-12 from the field (.667) and made 4-of-5 from distance (.800).

The senior forward now has a league-leading 16 games with 20 or more points. He is also atop in the AAC in scoring (21.9), while ranking second in steals per game (2.2) and 3-point makes (61), fifth in 3-point percentage (.407) and ninth in rebounding (7.1).

Memphis gears up for a Texas swing this week with road trips to North Texas on Thursday at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) and SMU on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ESPN).
