Tigers get revenge versus Tulane in dominant 90-78 win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Tigers defeated the Tulane Green Wave 90-78 for their 10th home win of the season.

The win moves Memphis to 18-6 on the year and 7-4 in the American Athletic Conference.

David Jones finished with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jahvon Quinerly finished with 18 points and Nae’Qwan Tomlin scored 16 points.

In the previous matchup, Tulane upset the then 10th-ranked Tigers 81-79 on January 21.

The Tigers came out looking for revenge by starting the game on a 16-0 run to have a 19-point lead in the first 10 minutes.

Memphis controlled the entire first half with stifling defense and excellent ball movement. The Tigers forced nine Tulane turnovers and tallied 12 assists, leading to six three-pointers.

David Jones led the Tigers in the first half with 13 points on 5-5 shooting. Nae’Qwan Tomlin scored 10 and Jahvon Quinerly scored 9 points with three three-pointers.

Collin Holloway led Tulane with 9 points and Kevin Cross scored 7 points.

Memphis led 46-29 at the half.

The second half started chippy with both teams being aggressive towards each other. There was a total of six technical fouls called between both teams.

The Tigers were fueled by it and pushed their lead to 25 points.

Tulane attempted a late comeback effort, but it was just too late as Memphis held on for the win.

Memphis will head back on the road to face off against North Texas. The game is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
