Dean of Memphis school arrested, charged with harassment

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Dean of Students at Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering was charged with harassment and violating an order of protection.

In September 2024, a woman informed police that Jamie Williams, 32, had been harassing her with phone calls and text messages. She said she asked him to stop multiple times, but he did not, contacting her more than 15 times in a month.

The woman told police that she had recently found out she was pregnant by Williams, and claimed that he was pressuring her to have an abortion.

In November, the woman obtained a 6-month order of protection against Williams. The same day the order was served, the woman claimed he again contacted her.

Reports say Williams called the woman from random phone numbers and texted her from what appeared to have been one of his family members’ phone numbers. One of the calls was recorded and used as proof for detectives.

He was charged with Violation of Order of Protection and Harassment. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody on Tuesday. He is currently being held on a $2,000 bond.

Williams is the Dean of Students at MASE, the school confirmed. He previously held the same position at Memphis School of Excellence, and Memphis Delta Preparatory Charter School, according to MASE.

“Law enforcement authorities have alerted us that Jamie Williams, our Dean of Students, has been arrested for a domestic issue,” MASE Executive Director Rod Gaston said in an email. “We do not condone or tolerate illegal activity or behavior from any MASE employee; however, we also believe in due process and will allow the legal process to run its course. “

Williams is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
