Operation Jingle Bells underway this holiday season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department is ringing in the start of the holiday season with ‘Operation Jingle Bells.’
This is all about increasing the visibility of law enforcement at places where you may go to shop.
During this shopping season something you won’t be able to put under the tree – but is certainly invaluable – is peace of mind.
Law enforcement all across the area are hoping peace of mind is what you will have – as the Shelby County Sheriff’s office has officially kicked off its annual ‘Operation Jingle Bells.’
Sheriff Floyd Bonner says the holidays are all about coming together.
“Is a time to reflect on our blessings, our family, friends, health, jobs, and the safety of living in a secure community,” Bonner said.
But it’s also the season in which thieves are coming after what you’re buying – to put under the Christmas tree.
This is why law enforcement from across the area are beefing up their presence, especially at shopping centers, like in the Wolfchase area.
You can also expect traffic enforcement and patrols throughout parking lots.
Keep in mind you too have a part to play in all of this. Remember ‘stow it don’t show it’ – it’s a reminder to either hide or remove any valuables from your vehicle when you are out and at home.
Operation Jingle Bells is in collaboration with officers in Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, and Collierville.
