Tennessee declares State of Emergency due to winter weather

TEMA recommends staying prepared ahead of the winter storm, which is expected to last from the evening of Thursday, Jan. 9, until the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 11.

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), along with Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee have issued a Level 3 State of Emergency in Tennessee to provide relief during winter weather.

TEMA is recommending that Tennesseans prepare ahead of the winter storm, which is expected to last from the evening of Thursday, Jan. 9, until the afternoon of Saturday Jan. 11.

Most of Tennessee is expected to receive 3 to 5 inches of snowfall, but some areas may see 6 to 8 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Create a family communication plan
