UTHSC campus police joins “Click it or Ticket” seatbelt advocacy

By:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Both the national and states’ “Click or Ticket” safety campaign continues through June 2 in efforts to remind drivers and passengers to secure seatbelts.

Officials at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) say its campus police department is adding its own efforts in collaboration with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

“Safety is paramount, and we want everybody to make sure they are wearing their seatbelts to save their lives, the lives of their passengers, and others, should they be involved in a crash,” said Campus Police Lieutenant Celia Tisby.

Campus officers plan on identifying who are not in compliance with the law during the time frame while on patrol in and around the Memphis Medical District. Officers will be issuing citations, and providing car riders with educational literature regarding seatbelt safety and related state laws.
