BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) – A federal judge in Louisiana signed a request from federal prosecutors to schedule a bond revocation hearing for rapper NBA YoungBoy after he was arrested on 63 state charges in Utah.

Shelly Dick, Chief Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana, ordered federal agents to take NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, into federal custody and hold him until a bond revocation hearing is scheduled.

If the judge agrees with prosecutors that Gaulden violated the terms of his pre-trial release, she could order that he be held until trial.

Gaulden was allowed to live in Utah on house arrest ahead of a trial in Baton Rouge on gun charges.

He was arrested in 2020 at a music video shoot in the Baton Rouge area after police raided the scene and rounded up 16 people, including Gaulden.

Investigators in Cache County, Utah, said the rapper and others were then caught contacting pharmacies across the state to fill phony prescriptions.

According to court records, Gaulden and others used phony prescriptions to obtain various prescription drugs, including promethazine with codeine.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office charged Gaulden with 63 counts of various charges related to his alleged crimes.

Gaulden’s attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
