MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been arrested and charged with robbing a Memphis mail carrier, and according to the police affidavit, he may be responsible for more.
Marshun Lewis is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery in the case. He also faces a charge of evading arrest, according to court records.
According to court records, Lewis had been granted diversion in 2022 for charges of robbery and burglary, but that diversion could now be terminated. He is currently in the Shelby County Jail on $101,500 total bond in those cases, and no bond in the diversion cases.
Memphis Police said one robbery happened on Nov. 29, 2024, at the Cedar Mills Apartments. The affidavit said the suspect robbed a woman delivering mail and demanded her “arrow key” – which is a universal key for mail boxes.
The United States Postal Inspection Service said another robbery happened around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2024, in the 6700 block of South Landing Way inside The Landings Apartments. Memphis Police said the suspect approached the postal worker and said, “Give me your arrow key!” and the victim complied. The carrier was not injured.
The USPS released surveillance video showing the suspect getting out of a black 2015 to 2016 Ford Fusion and approaching the letter carrier. The police affidavit said a tip pointed investigators to Lewis.
According to the police affidavit, MPD officers went to arrest Lewis on Dec. 13 on a robbery warrant and he tried to escape by jumping from a third floor balcony. He was caught after a short chase.
The affidavit also said Lewis was investigated by the USPIS for armed robberies involving postal carriers’ “arrow keys” in 2022.
