‘No confidence’ vote will move forward against MSCS board

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The “no confidence” vote resolution regarding the Memphis Shelby County School board is headed to the full Shelby County Commission.
The education committee voted to send the resolution without a recommendation.
The no-confidence vote won’t make any changes but would show that the commission lacks confidence in the MSCS board; it comes in response to a move to oust the current-sitting MSCS Superintendent Maire Feagins.
The discussion around the vote, however, is mixed; some commissioners said they would vote against the resolution, saying it is a “slippery slope” and “none of their business.”
Others said they have to take a stand to help the children.
One community member said he does not have confidence in the school board and wants the county commission to stand with the community.
